Octopus bloom spreads along UK coast to Scotland and Wales

Octopus sightings have spread along the UK coast from Devon and Cornwall toward Scotland and Wales, with cephalopods now reported further north than before. Some Southwest English fishers report Octopus consuming large quantities of crab and lobster, reducing their catches. The study, a collaboration between the Marine Biological Association and the University of Plymouth, warns that fishing communities in other areas could soon be affected as the octopus expands northward.
