Why Cadillac is yet another luxury brand to slash EV prices

Cadillac is adjusting Lyriq pricing in Australia as the market shifts, while sticking to its initial strategy in principle. The Lyriq Sport and Lyriq Luxury are now listed at 90,000 Australian dollars before on‑road costs, with a 95,000 drive‑away offer in place through June 30, 2026. When the model first arrived in 2024, the list price was 117,000, rising to 122,000 in 2025 before discounts. GM ANZ managing director Jess Bala noted that the market moved quickly and new premium brands emerged, prompting a price response aligned with competition and forecasted volumes.

Cadillac says the adjusted Lyriq price brings it below the Luxury Car Tax threshold for fuel‑efficient vehicles, currently 91,387 (rising to 91,667 in the new financial year), qualifying for Fringe Benefits Tax exemptions. Bala avoided naming rivals but cited Zeekr’s rapid growth and its 7X as a competitive pressure in Australia. The company also indicated it would continue promotions and offers to stay relevant to luxury buyers while balancing demand with brand positioning, though it does not publish monthly sales numbers, unlike some GM brands.
