Gene Bergeron Jr., known as Gene, Geno, Dad and Grandpa, died on June 2 at age 68, surrounded by family. Diagnosed with cancer at 19, he faced health challenges with quiet faith and resilience that defined his life, repeatedly finding a way to persevere. He shared a lifelong partnership with Beverly, his wife since they were 15, a bond described as inseparable. For four decades he cared for Cranberry Acres and built a legacy as a landscaper, woodsman and craftsman whose work dots Martha's Vineyard—from Blue Heron Farm to the Agricultural Hall and countless farms. He is survived by Beverly, children Mary, Gene, Sarah, and grandchildren Joseph and Ava.
