Aaron Glenn's second Jets season features a retooled roster -- and same heavy burden to shed
Aaron Glenn’s second Jets season centers on a retooled roster and the same heavy requirement to fix a roster that produced a 3-14 record in his first year. After replacing both offensive and defensive coordinators and taking over defensive play-calling, Glenn and GM Darren Mougey reshaped the team for 2026. The Jets report to training camp in Florham Park on Tuesday, with the first practice scheduled for Wednesday. The most significant on-field change is quarterback Geno Smith’s return, replacing Justin Fields, after 10 years away, following Smith’s 2013 second-round selection. Smith, 35, is set as the fifth opening-day quarterback for the Jets in six years if he stays healthy. On offense, key skill players include Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, supported by Adonai Mitchell, Omar Cooper Jr., Mason Taylor and Kenyon Sadiq, while tackles Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou headline the line. Defensively, additions include Demario Davis, Minkah Fitzpatrick and David Onyemata, alongside No. 2 pick David Bailey.
