AerCap selects GE GEnx-1B engines to power 15 additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners, expanding the Irish lessor’s long-haul fleet strategy. GE Aerospace said late Tuesday that AerCap Holdings N.V. chose its GEnx-1B engine to power the added 15 aircraft. AerCap holds a portfolio of about 200 GEnx engines, either owned or on order, and is described as the largest owner of Boeing 787 aircraft worldwide. GE said the GEnx platform is built for harsh environments, and that over the past decade upgrades to high-pressure turbine blades and combustor coating have increased flight time. To boost output, GE is investing more than €110 million in European manufacturing and $1 billion in the U.S., including over $100 million to strengthen supplier capabilities. In premarket trading, GE shares were up 0.26% at $341.60 and AerCap up 1.73% to $154.41.
