Air Canada and Airbus launch joint initiative to scale domestic Canadian SAF and help reduce the life-cycle emissions of corporate travel - ADU - Aviation Defence Universe

Air Canada and Airbus have launched a jointly funded Sustainability Co-Investment Platform to scale domestic Canadian Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and cut the life-cycle emissions tied to corporate air travel. The companies plan to invest up to approximately CAD 13.7 million (US$10 million) through the platform to support commercial-scale SAF in Canada, contingent on a supportive public policy framework. A key focus is accelerating an agreed Canadian SAF project toward a Final Investment Decision (FID). Air Canada and Airbus say they will work with federal and provincial governments and continue advocacy with the Canadian Council for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (C-SAF). The initiative, announced in Farnborough on 20 July 2026, also aims to improve SAF availability and price competitiveness for the Canadian aerospace industry.
