Air Canada and United look to renew joint venture deal for Canada-U.S. flights
Air Canada says it has signed an amended deal to renew and expand its joint venture agreement with United Airlines for flights between Canada and the United States. Based in Montreal, Air Canada submitted the updated and restated agreement to Transport Canada for approval. The Canadian regulator said the airlines have operated under the arrangement since 2022, allowing them to coordinate on certain routes. Air Canada’s announcement comes alongside a package of new U.S. services slated to begin next summer. The airline plans Toronto–Louisville, Montreal–Indianapolis, and Edmonton–Newark, and it will increase capacity between Edmonton and San Francisco. The agreement renewal and the new route launch are expected to reinforce the partnership’s role across the transborder network.
