Air Canada will launch a new nonstop route linking Vancouver International Airport (YVR) with Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport (CTS) starting December 17. The service will run three times weekly through late March, covering a 4,299-mile (6,917 km) trip. Scheduled time is about 9 hours 10 minutes westbound on Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Flight AC55 departs Vancouver Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 2:25 PM, arriving the following day at 3:35 PM. The return, AC54, leaves Sapporo Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 7:35 PM and reaches Vancouver around 11:50 AM. Air Canada says avoiding a Tokyo connection saves passengers more than two hours each way.
