Air force jet crashes at aerial show in Greece
xCruzo Brief
A Greek Air Force twin-seat Phantom F4 crashed at Tanagra air force base, about 40 miles north of Athens, during Athens Flying Week, sending plumes of black smoke over the crowd of several thousand spectators. Officials said it was not immediately clear whether the two pilots had ejected before the impact. Firefighters faced ground-level flames, with a water-dropping helicopter hovering over the crash site to help contain the blaze. Rescue efforts were hampered by the fire, and there were no immediate reports of injuries among attendees. Greece mobilized 85 firefighters with the help of 11 water-dropping planes and helicopters to bring the situation under control.
