Air India deploys new Boeing 787-9 on Mumbai-London route; introduces premium economy
Air India began using a new Boeing 787-9 on its Mumbai–London Heathrow route and simultaneously introduced Premium Economy for the service. Effective Wednesday, flights AI131 and AI130 started operating with purpose-built, line-fit 787-9 aircraft featuring redesigned custom cabin interiors installed at Boeing. The airline’s second daily Mumbai–London Heathrow departure continues on an upgraded Boeing 777-300ER with a First Class cabin. The 787-9 is configured for 296 seats in three classes and includes the Thales AVANT Up inflight entertainment system, with more than 3,000 hours of content available via Bluetooth headphones. Seats offer USB-A, USB-C, and AC power, and onboard amenities were refreshed with new menus on premium china and redesigned amenity kits and bedding. The route expansion supports Air India’s position in the UK market.
