Air traffic control provider comes under fire after second issue in two weeks

An aviation industry body said passengers and airlines “deserve better” after another air traffic control disruption within two weeks. On Monday, Flights were delayed across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England amid an air traffic control issue, National Air Traffic Services (Nats) said. The company stressed Monday’s incident was separate from a software fault on September 8 that triggered more than 2,000 cancellations. Ryanair repeated calls for Nats chief executive Martin Rolfe to resign, saying over 25,000 passengers were expected to be affected and more than 140 Ryanair flights delayed. EasyJet and Jet2 echoed concerns about the resilience of Nats systems, while Airlines UK urged urgent action and resilience from critical infrastructure. British Airways also said disruption was disappointing.
