Air Zimbabwe misses London flight deadline

Air Zimbabwe misses the June deadline to resume Harare–London flights, now aiming July 1 for the Gatwick relaunch. The route will operate under an ACMI arrangement with Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas supplying aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance while Air Zimbabwe markets the service. The Harare-London link last flew in December 2011 amid financial strain and regulatory challenges. Mutapa Investment Fund chief executive John Mangudya had previously said flights would resume by June, with Gatwick chosen for slot availability and wet-lease practicality. Plus Ultra is expected to deploy either an Airbus A340-300 or A330-200, with final aircraft chosen based on fleet availability. Air Zimbabwe's current fleet is limited, lacking operational wide-body aircraft for long-haul work.
