Air Zimbabwe Restores Direct Harare to London Service After Fourteen Year
Air Zimbabwe confirmed it will resume direct scheduled flights between Harare and London Gatwick from 22 July 2026, ending a gap of more than 14 years since the airline last served the UK. The announcement was made in Harare on 9 July 2026 and will operate three times weekly, with departures from Harare’s Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Return flights from London Gatwick will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, departing from the airport’s South Terminal. The service will use an Airbus A330-300 widebody aircraft under an Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance arrangement with Spanish carrier Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas, brokered by Chapman Freeborn. Under the wet lease model, Plus Ultra provides aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance, while Air Zimbabwe handles ticket sales, passenger services and overall route commercial management. The relaunch follows Air Zimbabwe’s 2012 withdrawal of a Boeing 767 and earlier EU/UK air safety restrictions.
