Airbus explains why premium travelers will drive US domestic aviation through 2045, arguing that the next era of growth will be less about carrying more passengers and more about selling improved experiences. Speaking at Airbus’ 2026 Global Market Forecast briefing in London, executives said premium cabins, larger aircraft, and more complex cabin layouts are expected to shape airline fleet decisions through 2045, even though North America’s population growth is projected to remain modest. The company noted premium seating can account for roughly 15% of airline revenue while representing about 3% of travelers, citing McKinsey. Airbus executives also pointed to increased cabin segmentation, including configurations with up to four classes on an A321. They said airlines are tailoring products to different passenger expectations, behaviors, and experiences across leisure and other traveler groups.
