Airline promises to avoid controversial extra charge 'until summer 2028'
xCruzo Brief
EasyJet has promised it won’t introduce fuel surcharges on customer bookings until at least summer 2028, aiming to keep the price agreed at the time of purchase from changing later even as oil prices rise amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The airline’s move comes after other carriers adopted surcharges following booking confirmation, which politicians and consumer advocates have criticized as unfair. Jet2, meanwhile, says it was the first airline to remove a contract clause that would have allowed such charges, despite never applying one. EasyJet also flagged plans to install new lightweight seats on its Airbus A321neo aircraft in 2027, with capacity up to 244 depending on layout.
