Airport issues major update to travellers as 'situation monitored closely'

Gatwick Airport said it has resolved a jet-fuel supply problem after issuing a Notam alert to pilots to “fuel from outstations (other airports) if possible.” The temporary technical issue affected fuel deliveries to the airport on Sunday, and the notice was expected to remain in effect until 11pm on Monday. By Monday morning, Gatwick reported that fuel is flowing as expected, all airlines are operating normally, and passengers can continue plans. Earlier in the year, the Iran oil crisis had raised concerns about potential summer jet-fuel shortages. Separately, Gatwick also faced a water outage last weekend, tied to issues at SES Water’s Bough Beech treatment works.
