Airspace consultation go-ahead 'crucial' step towards reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport

A public consultation on reinstating airspace around Doncaster Sheffield Airport has received approval from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, described as a “crucial” step toward reopening the site. The consultation will run from August 3 to October 4 and will gather views from residents and stakeholders on the airport’s Airspace Change Proposal (ACP). Doncaster Sheffield Airport aims to restart freight flights next year and passenger services in 2028 after closing in 2022. The airport said the consultation is a regulatory requirement needed for it to gain control of the airspace around the airport. Meanwhile, it is recruiting seven additional air traffic controller staff to join more than 20 already in place. FlyDoncaster’s Christian Foster said the milestone will help accelerate engagement with airlines and operators.
