Akasa Air hits major milestone with 40th aircraft induction; continues rapid fleet expansion
Akasa Air reached a fleet expansion milestone by inducting its 40th aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 with registration VT-YBQ. The aircraft arrived at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on July 3, 2026, following a delivery flight that started in Seattle, transited through Reykjavik, Iceland, and concluded with the final leg from Cairo, Egypt. The airline said the delivery marked the ninth aircraft induction in calendar year 2026, emphasizing rapid, consistent scaling since operations began in August 2022. Akasa also specified that the jet is equipped with Safran Z200 seats featuring a four-inch recline, contoured backrests, enhanced cushioning, and USB-C/USB-A ports. Akasa has firm orders for 226 737 MAX aircraft and a delivery pipeline of 186 more over the next six years.
