American Airlines Finally Has A Permanent Heathrow Caterer After 5 Months Of Stopgaps
American Airlines has selected Austrian catering company DO & CO as its permanent Heathrow (LHR) caterer, five months after the oneworld carrier had to change its catering setup at its busiest London outstation. The move follows a February disruption after American’s previous supplier, dnata, faced allegations involving mice found in food preparation areas, though independent audits later said the facility met hygiene and safety requirements. In the interim, flights to the U.S. saw operational changes including double provisioning, a reduced onboard menu, and the removal of items such as seafood and ice cream, while vegetarian options remained. DO & CO’s full transition could take up to four months, with new catering trucks expected to arrive by late August or September.
