American pride takes flight at National Museum of WWII Aviation during Fourth of July celebrations
American pride takes flight at National Museum of WWII Aviation during Fourth of July celebrations describes how the National Museum of World War II Aviation in Colorado Springs drew large crowds during Fourth of July weekend. The event marked America’s 250th anniversary and Colorado’s 150th, with thousands of visitors arriving on Saturday. Attendees enjoyed live music by the Denver Dolls, rides in vintage jeeps and a half-track, and both classic cars and Jaguar sports cars, alongside the museum’s collection of World War II aircraft. Museum President and CEO Bill Klaers conducted a morning flyby in a pair of planes, including his own B-25 “In the Mood” and a TBM Avenger, after a third aircraft could not travel due to an aerial firefighting commitment in Montana. Klaers estimated around 600 cars in the parking lot at 10:30. Several aircraft were open to the public in the cockpits and cabins.
