An anomaly in the Matrix': Filmmaker issues chilling new warning about Musk
Documentary director Alex Gibney said his nearly four-hour film “Musk” examines how Elon Musk amassed unprecedented power across business, technology and politics, including government support behind early ventures and the rise of SpaceX and Tesla. The documentary also covers Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, now X; his alliance with President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement; and his involvement in the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, which Gibney says helped cut federal programs such as USAID. In a discussion on Democracy Now!, Gibney described Musk as having crafted an image of a “polymath,” while portraying him as “a ruthless businessman” willing to use “elaborate cons” to win government backing. Gibney referenced reporting that Musk spent $366 million to support Republicans in the midterms, and that SpaceX has secured more than $8 billion in U.S. military contracts this year. He also questioned how Musk’s political contributions may subsidize xAI, which he characterized as potentially risky.
