Australia transport safety regulator probes two more incidents at Sydney airport

Australia’s transport safety regulator has opened two investigations into taxiing conflicts at Sydney Airport, involving Virgin and Qantas aircraft on Aug. 16 and Jetstar and Bombardier aircraft on Aug. 25. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) categorized both events as safety incidents rather than “serious incidents.” It said there was no immediate risk of collision because flight and ground crews reacted to avoid the conflict. The ATSB’s probe will examine how the situations developed and what procedures were followed during the ground movements.
