India’s aviation regulator DGCA warned IndiGo over lapses in dangerous goods handling norms and ordered corrective actions at Delhi airport. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued a warning letter directing the airline to conduct recurrent training for personnel handling Company Material (COMAT) Dangerous Goods and to update its training program with more practical exercises and operational scenarios. The letter stems from a spillage of cargo detected on the ground after a flight arrived in January 2026, along with subsequent audit findings showing deviations from standard operating procedures under the Aircraft (Carriage of Dangerous Goods) Rules, 2026, according to IndiGo’s regulatory filing on Friday. DGCA also said a special audit of IndiGo’s Delhi engineering stores facility found multiple regulatory non-compliances involving company material categorized as dangerous goods on its own aircraft. The airline was asked to strengthen its Continuous Competency Assessment system and submit an action taken report within 30 days; IndiGo said the DGCA communication was received on July 8.
