Bain Capital bets on demand growth for sustainable aviation fuel
xCruzo Brief
Bain Capital, a major shareholder in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) producer EcoCeres, expects long-term growth as blending mandates spread across countries and says China could require them in coming years. Bain partner James Tam, co-chair of EcoCeres, said the SAF sector is at the start of a multi-decade expansion as airline carbon-cutting rules move from Europe to Asia. He argued SAF is the only widely commercial option for long-haul decarbonisation in the near term. EcoCeres, the world’s second-largest SAF producer by capacity, is preparing a Hong Kong IPO that Reuters reported could raise about $1 billion.
