Black Boxes Head to 35 Training Aircraft

FlyBy Aviation Academy, an EASA-approved pilot training organisation, has signed an agreement with FlyData.io to equip 35 aircraft with smart flight data recorders (FDR) in September 2026. The system is designed as an all-purpose “black box” for general aviation aircraft, continuously recording high-frequency flight parameters including position, altitude, speed, pitch, bank, G-force, vibration, sound, and cabin CO levels. FlyData.io says that after an incident or abnormal maneuver, the platform can reconstruct the flight in 3D within minutes and enable real-time fleet tracking. FlyBy says it will be among the first training organisations in Europe—and the first in Spain—to deploy a fleet-wide system at this scale. The contract is FlyData.io’s largest to date by aircraft count. FlyBy’s COO and safety manager cited improved operational visibility and strengthening of safety management.
