A Wyoming Council of the Blind event will bring Michael Hingson—who was blind and survived the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks—to Casper for three appearances Oct. 23-25, including a free public presentation at Casper College. Hingson has recounted how, five hours before American Airlines Flight 11 struck the World Trade Center’s North Tower at 8:46 a.m., his guide dog Roselle feared thunderstorms but stayed with him during the emergency. Hingson said he was on the 78th floor setting up for a workday seminar when the building lurched. He, colleague David Frank and Roselle navigated 78 floors and 1,463 stairs in the evacuation. The council says Hingson’s message focuses on staying focused and not panicking.
