Boeing 777 freighter production halted for nearly two months
xCruzo Brief
Production of Boeing’s 777 freighter has been halted for nearly two months due to a dispute with a sole supplier of a critical wing component, according to Boeing workers and court filings. Boeing says the Florida-based supplier Vaero stopped delivering trailing-edge rib kits used in wing production at the Everett, Washington facility supporting both the 777 freighter and 767 programs. The company estimates the disruption cost up to US$6.5 million per day. Boeing and Vaero reached a settlement in late September, but workers say 777 freight production still has not resumed. The 767 line has also been disrupted, though some parts have returned after the settlement.
