Boeing is facing fresh scrutiny following allegations in the documentary “Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing,” due on Netflix Aug. 19. The 93-minute film, a sequel to 2022’s “Downfall,” revisits the 2018 and 2019 737 MAX 8 crashes that killed 346 people and argues the company prioritized profit over passenger safety. In the trailer, a former Boeing 787 Dreamliner quality manager, Merle Meyers, says “scrapped parts” were put back on aircraft for years, adding that many appeared “rotten.” The film also depicts retaliation claims from employees, and highlights Alaska Airlines Flight 1282’s Jan. 2024 MAX 9 door-plug blowout.
