Boeing has paid a $3.1 million fine to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration this year after the regulator cited multiple safety violations, including matters linked to the 2024 Alaska Airlines MAX 9 mid-air emergency, the FAA told Reuters. The FAA said the September 2025 fine amount sought by the agency was paid in January and had not been publicly disclosed until now. Boeing confirmed to Reuters that it paid the penalty. The FAA previously said it was fining Boeing for interfering with safety officials’ independence and for presenting two aircraft for approval that were not airworthy. In 2024, the FAA found hundreds of quality system violations at Boeing’s 737 factories in Renton, Washington, and via Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Kansas.
