Boeing's new 737 assembly line starts moving in Everett
Boeing’s new 737 assembly line in Everett is set to boost output capacity as the planemaker moves to start a fourth 737 MAX final assembly line on Monday. The new “North Line” begins operations at Boeing’s Everett, Washington, factory, following CEO Kelly Ortberg’s June statement that the first jet would be loaded on July 6. Boeing says the line mirrors the three 737 final assembly lines in its Renton plant. The company is ramping production from 42 to 47 jets per month after consulting with the FAA, but the North Line is not expected to increase rates until early 2027. Boeing targets 52 jets per month then, and is studying up to 70 monthly. The effort comes as Boeing works to recover from years of disruptions, after FAA limits followed a January 2024 Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 midair door-plug blowout.
