Both engines flamed out before a small business jet crashed on a Texas highway in June, according to an NTSB preliminary investigation released Friday. The NTSB said the pilots, on a flight from San José del Cabo to Austin operated by NetJets, noticed an “unusual vibration” early and later received messages that the right fuel system had low fuel pressure, followed by additional failures and an emergency declaration. While on final approach to Laredo International Airport, the right engine “flamed out,” with the left engine going moments later. Video referenced by the report shows fire flaring around the aircraft during the approach. With no suitable nearby fields identified by air traffic controllers, the crew landed on the highway about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) southeast of the airport, shearing light poles and striking a vehicle. One person died and six were injured, and five people escaped after the main cabin exit door was opened.
