A Brussels Airlines flight en route to Lomé returned to Kotoka International Airport (KIA) shortly after take-off on Monday evening after developing a technical fault, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed. In a statement dated July 20, the GCAA said Flight SN278 departed Accra at 6:06 p.m. but experienced a technical problem while airborne. As a precaution, the crew chose to return to Accra, where the aircraft landed safely at 18:18, about 12 minutes after take-off, and no injuries were reported. The GCAA said Brussels Airlines is investigating the fault under established safety procedures and canceled Flight SN278 following the incident. It also stated that affected passengers are receiving assistance in line with Ghana’s Civil Aviation (Economic) Directives, 2019, Part 2 on consumer protection.
