Budget airline grounds two flight routes from major UK airport

IndiGo will suspend flights between London Heathrow and the Indian cities of Delhi and Mumbai starting August 31, then end the service when it returns leased aircraft on October 25. The budget carrier cited a challenging operating environment linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions, alongside rising fuel costs and airspace restrictions impacting route operations. IndiGo said it will work with affected customers to provide suitable alternatives and refunds or other travel arrangements. The airline is waiting to take delivery of new Airbus A350-900 aircraft before restarting Heathrow operations between the UK and India. The two routes began in July 2025, and the cut applies first to August 31. IndiGo also plans additional route changes from Manchester later this month, and its leadership has recently shifted.
