Chaos-Causing Passenger Duct-Taped to Seat Mid-Air
Passengers on an American Airlines flight on Thursday described a chaotic onboard dispute involving a man allegedly behaving aggressively and being duct-taped to his seat mid-air. A photo of Arthur Lundeen, 67, from Arizona, shows him restrained while the image went viral after being posted on Instagram by fellow passenger Richard Olenick. Olenick said Lundeen was allegedly drunk and yelled at a passenger seated next to him in first class. When a flight attendant tried to calm the situation, Lundeen allegedly began screaming obscenities at the crew member. Olenick reported that he moved to help restrain Lundeen after he allegedly physically assaulted the nearby passengers, including the flight attendant and a woman attempting to de-escalate the incident. The photo reportedly shows blood on Lundeen’s arms. The aircraft, flying from Dallas to Newark, was diverted to Baltimore, where Maryland police took Lundeen into custody.
