Cheap airline with budget flights comes back to UK after 14 years

AirAsia X is set to return to the UK after more than 14 years, launching renewed flights from London Gatwick starting August 27 with a stopover in Bahrain. The budget airline previously operated to London in 2009 from Stansted and moved to Gatwick in 2011, becoming the inaugural low-cost carrier on the “Kangaroo Route” before pulling out a year later amid losses. The revised service will operate four times weekly from August 27 and then increase to daily flights from November 2, according to reports. Flights use an Airbus A330-300 with up to 377 seats in a typical 2-4-2 economy layout. Return fares to Kuala Lumpur for November begin at £551, with a small personal item and hand luggage included, while checked baggage is not. Nonstop options include British Airways via Heathrow and Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur.
