Confirmed: Virgin Australia Expecting 1st Boeing 737 MAX 10 Delivery In Late 2027
Virgin Australia has set a timeline for its largest narrowbody introduction, confirming that the first Boeing 737 MAX 10 delivery is expected in late 2027. The carrier holds ten firm orders for the MAX 10, which is the longest variant in the 737 family at 143 feet 8 inches in length, with a wingspan of 117 feet 10 inches and a height of 41 feet 8 inches. It can carry up to 230 passengers in high-density layouts and uses two LEAP-1B engines delivering up to 29,300 pounds of thrust. Maximum takeoff weight is 194,700 pounds and range about 3,300 nautical miles. The aircraft would boost domestic and short-haul international capacity while sharing commonality with Virgin’s existing fleet. Certification by the FAA remains the final hurdle, with ongoing flight-testing and validation as regulators tighten oversight. The move underlines a broader fleet-renewal strategy to improve efficiency and reduce emissions, leveraging the MAX 10 to enhance slot-constrained operations.
