Copa Airlines Becomes 1st Carrier To Charge For Starlink WiFi: Will Other Airlines Follow Suit?
Copa Airlines Becomes 1st Carrier To Charge For Starlink WiFi: Will Other Airlines Follow Suit? highlights a pricing shift for in-flight connectivity as Copa Airlines plans to monetize Starlink. Based in Panama and part of the Star Alliance, Copa says it will roll out Starlink across its fleet, with the first equipped aircraft already entering commercial service this week. Full installation is expected in the first quarter of 2027. The carrier will provide high-speed, low-latency internet supporting streaming, cloud work, online gaming, messaging and live sports. Unlike other airlines that introduced Starlink, Copa will not offer it universally for free. Complimentary access will be limited to ConnectMiles PreferMember Gold, Platinum and Presidential members, business-class passengers, and customers subscribing to Starlink Residential or Starlink Roam. All others will purchase access via the onboard Starlink portal. Copa’s Senior Director of Customer Experience, Diana Mizrachi-Kopel, said the move is part of its effort to improve travel via innovation.
