Could the best week of summer be on the way for Scotland?
Scotland could be heading toward its best summer spell in weeks as conditions start to improve over the coming days. After a “miserable weekend,” particularly across the west where some areas saw more than a week’s worth of rain, forecasts indicate warmer air arriving. Temperatures are expected to begin topping 20C by Tuesday, with the best chances around Perth, eastern Fife and Edinburgh, before warming further through the week. By Friday, many areas may reach the low to mid-20s, with the highest temperatures likely along the Moray coast, near Glasgow, the Borders and East Lothian, and models suggesting up to 28C locally. Cloud will not disappear entirely, with cloudier periods likely across the Hebrides, Northern Isles and west Highlands. Saturday could bring more scattered showers, while next week is expected to deliver broader sunshine under higher pressure, except possible haar on parts of the east coast.
