Barcelona officially took over as host city for Routes World 2027 during the final day of the 2026 edition, in a ceremony handing responsibilities to the city. Routes World 2027 will be hosted by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Barcelona City Council in October 2027. Informa’s Steven Small said Catalonia is a major long-haul gateway with strong demand and untapped potential, and that hosting the event can turn that demand into direct connectivity.
