CVG Airport and Sinclair Community College team up to explore next era of aviation technology

CVG Airport in Erlanger, Kentucky, and Sinclair Community College have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) and other NextGen aviation technologies, including Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). The partnership is designed as a regional testbed for real-world applications, building on prior Ohio programs such as DriveOhio and Fly Ohio, which helped establish policy, airspace and flight-testing foundations for UAS and AAM. The agreement references investment and manufacturing momentum in Ohio from companies including GE Aerospace’s BETA Technologies, Joby Aviation, Anduril Industries and Electra.aero, which plans a plant for its EL9 Ultra Short hybrid-electric aircraft. CVG will also tap Sinclair’s curriculum and research, while students can observe and test ideas in a live airport environment.
