Dead after small plane crashes near Chandler Airport in Arizona, fire officials say

One person died after a small aircraft crash near Chandler Airport in Arizona, according to the Chandler Fire Department. Crews responded following a 911 call reporting a downed aircraft and coordinated with the Chandler Airport control tower to verify the crash location. ABC News’ Phoenix affiliate KNXV reported the crash occurred near McQueen and Queen Creek roads at about 7:50 p.m. local time Tuesday. Fire officials said responders found a single aircraft with one person on board, who later died at the scene. The pilot has not been identified. The Chandler Fire Department said it is working with Chandler Airport officials, the Chandler Police Department and the Federal Aviation Administration as the investigation continues. Authorities are still collecting information and the investigation remains open.
