Delta airline flight reportedly hit by firework over Chicago

Delta Air Lines reported that a Delta flight was hit by a firework while flying over Chicago during the Fourth of July holiday. The incident occurred Saturday night as Delta Flight 1076 was descending toward Chicago Midway International Airport, shortly before landing just after 8:30 p.m. local time. In an audio recording shared online by LiveATC.net, the pilot described hearing “a big bang” at an altitude of about 200 to 250 feet. Delta said the aircraft was an Airbus A319 that left Atlanta with 52 passengers and six crew members, and it landed safely. After inspections by mechanics based in Atlanta, Delta reported no damage, while the Federal Aviation Administration said it would investigate.
