DNA evidence leads to guilty plea in 1990 DeKalb rape case

Moses Robinson, 67, of Decatur, Georgia, has pleaded guilty to rape tied to a Decatur apartment assault from 1990, ending a more-than-30-year investigation. The DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office says Robinson entered the victim’s home around 3:45 a.m. on Jan. 13, 1990, after kicking in the back door. Prosecutors allege he pulled the 26-year-old woman into the living room, threatened her with a knife, raped her, and stayed in the apartment for about two hours. The judge sentenced him to life in prison after the non-negotiated plea. DNA testing through GBI preserved evidence and CODIS later matched Robinson; he was indicted Aug. 8, 2025.
