Don't have any more time': Final moments before Florida jet crash kills nine
Air traffic control audio from a private Learjet 60 crash in Florida captured the final moments as the crew called for emergency help before the aircraft plunged toward a residential area on Sunday, 1 November. Nine people died aboard, according to authorities. In recordings, the pilot and crew report rapidly worsening conditions: “We’re losing altitude at 8,000 feet per minute,” followed by “Mayday… we’re losing 10,000 feet per minute.” The crew also referenced icing, turbulence, and overspeed concerns. About 35 seconds after the first distress call, communications were lost and the jet crashed near a main road in Greenacres, creating a large fireball and crater. Investigators are examining weather and the crew’s ice reports, but have not determined a cause.
