Donald Trump says Secret Service wanted him to switch planes for secret flight
President Donald Trump said the Secret Service wanted him moved to a “different plane” after a recent summit in Turkey due to a reported threat. Speaking to reporters after a trip to Ohio, he explained that he “go[es] by Secret Service and the military” and noted that he left Air Force One unexpectedly. The remark confirmed a Washington Post report alleging Trump hid in an airport catering container to board another aircraft as Air Force One—carrying officials, security staff and reporters—departed Turkey as a decoy in case of an attack. Trump played down the risk for those remaining on the plane, saying he believed the aircraft he flew on was at greater risk, without providing details. The White House had not confirmed the report; communications director Steven Cheung cited the need to use tools against threats.
