Emirates Says Its $300 Million Expansion Will Cut Reliance On Outside Suppliers For GE90 & GP7200 Engine Repairs
xCruzo Brief
Emirates says it will spend $300 million to expand its Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC) in Dubai and bring more engine repairs in-house, reducing reliance on outside suppliers. The airline announced an agreement on May 14, 2026 with GE Aerospace to provide technical consultancy, training and knowledge transfer, specifically to develop piece-part component repair capabilities for the GE90 engines that power its Boeing 777 fleet and the Engine Alliance GP7200 for its Airbus A380s. Emirates says the EEMC has run since 2014 and already completes 250 to 300 full-engine shop visits annually, including inspections and minor repairs for both engine types.
