Europe near approval of Boeing 737 MAX 7, 10 airplanes By Reuters
Europe and the United States are making progress toward approving two new Boeing 737 MAX variants, the MAX 7 and MAX 10. FAA Deputy Administrator Chris Rocheleau said the agency is in the final stages of certifying both versions, with remaining work described as largely procedural. EU safety chief Florian Guillermet said validation of the MAX 10 is a top priority and that last actions could be completed in the coming weeks. Rocheleau noted that certification work mainly involves dotting i's and crossing t's, and he expects EASA to validate the FAA's decision either concurrently or shortly afterward. The FAA had signaled a summer certification for MAX 7 and by year-end for MAX 10. Delays related to an engine de-icing issue have affected the process, but relations between the FAA and EASA have improved, with a data-sharing agreement being pursued to align certification and risk-management practices.
