Farage accused of under-declaring private jet loan from crypto billionaire
Farage is again accused of under-declaring a donation tied to a private jet loan from Christopher Harborne. Labour's Anna Turley has asked Reform UK for a clear accounting after Farage reported the gift as £25,000, double his initial £12,500 declaration. Turley notes that private jet charter rates run well above that amount, estimating $11,500 per hour, and the Mauritius flight was 23 hours with the aircraft at Farage's disposal for two and a half days, implying a far higher value. The contention underscores broader questions about Harborne's funding of Reform UK.
The dispute coincides with Westminster standards watchdog reviewing a £5 million donation Harborne allegedly made to Farage, described by him as a personal gift for security. Farage has defended the money as personal and tied to his Brexit campaigning, while opponents urge transparency. Harborne's contributions to Reform UK have drawn attention, including £9 million last August and another £3 million this year; reports also highlighted a £1.4 million cash purchase of a house in 2024, soon after the gift. Reform UK was contacted for comment. The questions reflect ongoing scrutiny of political donations.
