Firefighters tackle field blaze
Firefighters tackled a field blaze in the Piddletrenthide area after crops and stubble caught fire. Four fire crews attended the incident, using multiple hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. After the scene was dampened down and the emergency response was completed, the field was handed back to farmers. The Dorchester Fire Station spokesperson said appliances from Dorchester and Maiden Newton Fire Station pump and L4P, along with Bere Regis Fire Station L4P and a water carrier crew from Poole Fire Station, were mobilized to reports of a field fire at 7:02pm on Monday. On arrival, crews found multiple areas of stubble and crop alight. Crews then worked to extinguish the fire and ensure the area remained safe before returning it to those responsible for the land.
