Flights intercepted in Houston over FAA flight restrictions during Trump visit

NORAD intercepted five general aviation aircraft over Houston during a Temporary Flight Restriction while President Donald Trump was in town, according to NORAD. The fighters escorted the planes out of the restricted area. The TFR was active Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., affecting flights around Ellington, Hobby and La Porte airports during Trump’s visit. The FAA uses temporary flight restrictions whenever the president or vice president travels within the United States. NORAD said there have been recent TFR violations in Texas and warned the issue needs to be addressed “immediately.” Trump visited Houston for a Republican National Committee reception on Thursday and NASA’s Johnson Space Center on Friday for Artemis II astronaut honors.
